11PlusGenie is an accessible and user-friendly online program, which can be used in helping pupils to prepare for the 11+ entrance examinations, as well as for pupils who need to boost their performance in Maths & English.
Developed as an Educational Aid
The program has been developed and streamlined over a period of 6 years, to provide marked practice tests for effective preparation for the conventional 11+ and new CEM Examinations (University of Durham).
The program covers all the topics that the pupil will come across in the examination, but the parent must keep in mind that although it is a very effective Educational Aid, it can by no means replace an educator.
Suitable for pupils of Different Abilities
The focus of the 11PlusGenie program is to give pupils with different abilities, strengths and weaknesses, a plentiful variety of different exercises and tests, to work through, at their own level and pace.
Organised into 3 Phases
The program makes use of 3 Phases to systematically introduce the pupil to all the topics that he/she may come across in sitting the exams.
It provides numerous questions and tests for the pupil to work through during preparation and revision for the 11+ exams.
Categories covered are:
Phase 1
- English: Grammar & English Skills – 40 exercises, 650 questions
- Maths: 94 Maths topics – 720 questions
- Verbal Reasoning: 24 types – 300 questions
- Non-Verbal Reasoning: 20 types – 200 questions
Most exercises have a “Materials” page, which can be printed and used for revision purposes.
These helpful summaries give the pupil theory that needs to be remembered and also worked examples of questions that the pupil can expect in the examination.
Each exercise consists of 10-20 marks. The program is interactive and the questions are marked as the pupil works though it.
The mark achieved for each topic can be viewed in the “Scores” tab on the MAin menu.
This enable the pupil and the parent to keep track on progress made.
All exercises can be repeated as many times as the pupil wish, to improve his/her marks.
A “print” function is available on all the pages.
Phase 2
Consist of Diagnostic Tests to establish areas of Phase 1, which the pupil still needs to master.
A total of 15 tests (30 marks each) are available.
Categories tested are:
- Maths (A further 900 questions available to do.)
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
Each test has a total of 30 marks and is marked at the end of the test. The result of each test will be available in the report format as the example below, displaying the pupil’s mark achieved, time taken and importantly, suggested revision topics for improvement.
These pages will be:
- Available to print
Thus, once again enabling the parent to monitor progress throughout.
