Words ending in e: Rule 1
If you want to add a suffix that begins with a vowel (such as -ing, -y, -able) to many words, drop the e at the end of the word first!
Examples:
taste becomes tasty
cure becomes curable
There are some exceptions to this rule:
- like becomes likeable
- see becomes seeing
ie changes to y before adding –ing die becomes dying
