Prepositions

Prepositions are usually used in front of nouns or pronouns.

They show the relationship between the noun (or pronoun) and other words in the sentence.

They describe where something is: eg. The kingfisher hovered above the water.

They also describe the time something happens, e.g. After school, I’m going home.

They also describe the way something is done. e.g. My brother ate his dinner without complaining.
